Remindly is an AI-powered digital assistant designed to help individuals manage their busy schedules by integrating to-do lists, email accounts, and messaging platforms. It autonomously tracks meetings and tasks, suggesting optimal times for events and prioritizing tasks based on complexity and urgency.

Project Goal

In 2023 I was contracted by a group of investors to design and lead development of the first iteration of Remindly. The features included in this iteration are:

  • Dynamic calendar,
  • Versatile workspace for projects and tasks,
  • Planner for effective schedule organization,
  • A conversation triage and tracking
  • An activity monitor for team workflows
  • Autonomous handling of complex tasks and
  • Personalized profile and preferences management

Design Discovery

Discovery Goal

Build a robust foundation by validating problems, solutions, and ideas with potential target user groups.

  • User Interviews: Identify target users and deeply understand their problems.
  • Market Research: Analyze market trends to gauge size and depth.
  • Target User Selection: Choose user groups based on rounds of research.
  • User Discovery: Conduct follow-up research, journey, and empathy mapping.

Discovery allowed us to gain comprehensive knowledge about users, the market, and how the product could adapt to fit their needs.

User Research & Testing

Tools Used

For generating the Test Plan, Discussion Guide, transcribing interview notes and visualizing the test results, Google Docs was a wonderful choice

For conducting budget friendly remote user interviews, Google Meet is a great choice. It has the ability to record and partially transcribe notes

To visualize the results, deductions and next steps, Google Slides was a great tool that was included with G-Suite

  • Kano Analysis: Prioritize the top three most important feature groups for the MVP.
  • MVP Design: Begin design work on the MVP.
  • UI Kit Selection: Choose a UI kit for the design system.
  • Usability Testing: Test the MVP to ensure alignment with user needs and value delivery.
  • Design System: Build a robust design system for the MVP.
